Why attend?

These conversations are happening across Kansas City as part of a region-wide METS (math, engineering, technology and science) education initiative sponsored by the Kauffman Foundation.

Our goal is to improve student achievement and employability in METS fields, which will open up more job opportunities for young people and build a foundation for sustained economic growth in our region — and sustain U.S. competitiveness in the global economy.

Results of the Conversations will be used to:

  • Further refine our understand of the issues and help drive new solutions
  • Build support for local schools, students and efforts already underway
  • Inform/refine relevant policy in the region
  • Forge new community relationships and strengthen existing partnerships

The online conversation

An online social network on METS education is part of the initiative.
The website is a gathering place for all participants of Community Conversations in the region, as well as anyone else interested in the topic. Find background information and materials, meet other participants and continue the conversation about how to make sure students get the math, engineering, technology and science education they’ll need to succeed.
