Become a facilitator
What is a facilitator?
Sharpen your skills.
Become a community leader.
For the purposes of our program, a facilitator is someone who skillfully guides a dialogue among community members on topics of regional significance. This means keeping the group on track, clarifying, and limiting disruptions. Our facilitators typically use a scripted set of questions, which lend consistency to the public input process.
Facilitation can be used in different situations for a variety of reasons. There are many types of facilitation techniques, and through our training sessions, we strive to make sure that our facilitators are educated in more than one format.
Get trained
One KC Voice offers facilitator training free of chrage to anyone living or working in Greater Kansas City. You'll be able to apply your new skills in a wide variety of community and interpersonal settings.
In return for training, we ask that you donate at least a couple of hours to a One KC Voice public input project.
Facilitate a One KC Voice event
Once you've been trained and have volunteered your time for our program on one occasion, you will be invited to facilitate a One KC Voice citizen engagement event. This involves attending a one-hour prep meeting on the issue.
Skilled facilitators are an indispensible part of our public input efforts and typically receive a stipend for their services, as grant-funding allows.
